Darius a.k.a. Terence N’guyen is a French producer from Paris. His preferred genres usually range between house and disco, though many have pinpointed his sound in the French touch category. He has released two EPs the critically-praised Velour, released in 2012, and his 2014 follow-up, Romance. After starting off alongside Roche Musique, Darius is now signed on record label Animal63, which was partly created by Manu Barron. Lost In The Moment is the lead single from Darius’s debut album Utopia, out on Nov 24th.
The track perfectly captures the essence of the album: plaintive and poignant, lead by a kind of tear-filled joy. The video was directed by Lisa Paclet, and follows two boys and a girl in a desert, then to the edge of a cliff. A synth-filled vertigo which ends in a water cave and perfectly illustrates the song’s leap into the unknown. In the tradition of Alan Braxe and Fred Falke, filters are laid down on a slow-paced boogie rhythm. Like a melancholy mantra, a looped vocal sample repeats the title.
