Coming off the release of prior singles, ‘Behind The Beat‘ and ‘Give Me Yours‘ from the upcoming EP ‘Subtitles For X, Y, Z‘, CREO reveal their title track. The Sydney indie-rock four-piece plan to release the full EP on September 8, 2017.
The track is an emotional and catchy anthemic pop-rock anthem that is sure to be fit for a lively show. It’s delicate, elaborate lulls evolve into a powerful chorus that is quite a compelling ride. The almost hypnotic beat of the drums mixed with the amazing vocals from front man Jorjee Haman develops a dreamy atmosphere that listeners are guaranteed to be able to sit back and soak in. The grooving guitar riff that really brings the tune together raises the tempo and in no doubt will encourage a Creo crowd to get dancing and singing along. The chorus is soothing and the words behind the instrumentals are sure to hit heart strings close to home for some, making it a very moving song. If it’s lacking anything, it’s a commanding, tone changing last third to really set the track above from other indie-pop gold out there today.
The meaning behind the lyrics introduces further emotional feeling behind the tune as the guitar riff drives your thought. Haman explains a coming of age element to the song’s backstory, “age and experience skew the innocence and purity of our natural habits and emotions.” The vocalist describes the tune as a reflection of past experiences, “getting out of your own head,” and a real acceptance of one’s self and imperfections “first and foremost“. ‘Subtitles For X, Y, Z‘ exhibits a “battle” with yourself “to avoid certain feelings and thoughts because of past experiences“.
