Sydney punk-rock trailblazers, Born Lion, return with new single, Evil K. Citing hard rock and punk contemporaries such as Queens of the Stone Age, The Bronx and Converge as among their staple influences; ‘Evil K’ succeeds in traversing the tightrope between classic punk and rock n’ roll, whilst throwing in some interesting pop inflections.

“Evil K was the first song we wrote with our new drummer, Andres” front man John Bowker explains. “It was such an exciting time and this song felt like the start of something really special. I penned the lyrics after watching a late night doco on these aging stuntmen whose childhood hero was ‘Evel Knievel’”.

This new found excitement and Bowker’s late night daredevil musings inject Evil K with a relentless energy; as the song sounds like it’s constantly on the verge of falling apart. It’s hard hitting and well produced, yet the band manages to retain the raw charm that makes their sound so compelling.

You can stream Evil K by Born Lion below. Be sure to catch Born Lion this September as they travel Australia on their EVIL K tour.
