Every song takes its listener on a journey. From our most simple thoughts to our deepest desires, each journey is unique. The journey between two people can be long, complicated, and highly emotive. The new single from Kendl takes us deeper than many dance tracks. The track is called For Her, and it’s a flawless combination of ambient and beat-driven. For Her dropped on April 14th and is a single from Kendl’s forthcoming Colours EP. The track takes pillow talk to another level and brings a romantic air along with it.
For Her opens with a somber piano chord progression which quickly sets the tone for the entire track. A vocal sample of a young woman giggling and flirting enters the backdrop. Then, a driving beat enters, allowing the track to gain momentum and leave us begging for more. The beat becomes more complex, adding in ambient clicks which create percussion. The more the song builds, the deeper For Her takes us. Then, the track continues its ebb and flow to until the end.
For Her takes us to an intimate place, inside the head of a man doting over his lover. While she stays distant and may resist, all he wants to say is, “Come dance with me,” telling her “You’re supposed to flirt with me. I want you.” The track feels like a conversation between two people. The whole world has fallen away and nothing is left but two hearts attempting to connect. Whether the track is truly romantic or heartbreaking is a mystery, but it is a journey to put on repeat.
