Indie-pop band Selahphonic have just released their newest single, Had Our Heaven. The Sunshine Coast-based band is preparing to release their debut EP Therapy, and this track is the perfect way to usher it in. Drenched in synth and sun, Had Our Heaven is sure to draw you into its perfect pop world from the very first notes.

The song emits its full power as soon as it starts. The band drives straight into the depths of the track without building it up, and it remains immensely captivating for the entirety of the song. It’s also beyond catchy, the kind of song that makes you want to dance from the very beginning, a track that you’re likely to put on repeat as soon as it ends. Each aspect of the song blends perfectly into another – the harmonies melt together like liquid gold, lighting the track up from within. The groove of a backbeat compliments the sheer joy that’s communicated through the other instruments. It’s somewhat contradictory, but it all comes together to form a song that you can’t help but love.

Had Our Heaven is the kind of song that worms its way into your mind – in a good way of course. It has a chorus so well-written that it begs for a massive audience to sing the repetitive lyrics back to the band. It makes the listener feel hopeful and free from restraints. Its brand of bright pop is overwhelmingly infectious. The track takes up space in the listener’s heart, and that feels spectacular.

Selahphonic have outdone themselves on this one. Already a well-loved independent band, Had Our Heaven, as well as the release their upcoming EP, is sure to cement them as ones to watch. With songs as good as this, it’ll be hard not to continue listening to them over and over again.
